Glims of Lysø

Tend an island of candle folk.

Every keeper gets a floating island of their own. Give sparks, kindling and seedpods each day, and watch the glims build, dream and grow old. It gets harder.

Includes random-item purchases: chance decides what a bought great starstone or great comet becomes. For keepers 16 and over.

The island

A small island in the sky, and it is yours

Two glims, little candle folk with a flame each, live by a hearth, a pond, two bushes and three young trees. They gather berries and wood, build huts, fall in love, quarrel, dream and grow old. You are their keeper. You never steer them. You give.

A keeper's day

A day of tending

The tray

Each day it gathers sparks, kindling and seedpods, included. Each one you give warms the hearth.

The hearth

While it burns, new glims are lit and nobody goes cold. In embers, the cold comes and the glims gutter out one by one. Any offering lights it again.

It gets harder

At first a visit a day is enough. The hearth burns faster as the island ages.

The book

When the last flame goes out, the island's story ends. Its book stays, and a new island is included.

Starstones and comets

Fate decides what falls

Starstones and comets fall now and then while you watch. Most fall plainly; some turn kind, strange or harsh.

70.0%plain
11.1%kind
7.8%strange
11.1%harsh

Great starstones and great comets can be bought: twice as strong, never food, warmth or a new glim, so paying never makes an island last longer. A harsh great comet can end a glim's life, in at most 0.8% of them. The odds are shown before every purchase, and the shop stays off until a grown-up switches it on.

Where it began

Lysø, the island everyone watches

On 23 October 2026 one island opened at theglims.com with two glims, Gnist and Lue, and not a single hut. A server runs it day and night. Everyone sees the same island, nobody steers it, and the one thing anyone can do is make an offering.
